Introduction

Note: this page only catalogs third-party open-source projects and links to their official repositories; it neither develops, hosts nor distributes any software and assumes no liability. SolidCraft is an independent open-source work by Tangency Labs; it is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any third-party commercial software or its maker, and any third-party names, formats or trademarks are referenced for interoperability and description only.

SolidCraft is a free, open-source parametric 3D CAD application, built from scratch in pure Rust around conventions common to mainstream parametric modelers. Sketch, constrain and build solids on a parametric feature timeline — change a dimension and the model rebuilds.

What it lets you do:

  • Sketches and constraints: lines, arcs, splines, text and more, solved by its own constraint solver, with parameter-driven dimensions.
  • A parametric feature timeline: extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, fillet, chamfer, shell, draft, holes, threads, patterns, mirror, split and combine — edit a dimension and watch the model rebuild.
  • Parameters and configurations with unit-aware expressions.
  • Assemblies with joints, motion studies, contact sets, interference checks and mass properties.
  • Sheet metal and enclosures: flanges, hems, fold/unfold and flat patterns, plus plastic enclosure features.
  • Interchange formats: STEP, IGES, 3MF, STL, OBJ and glTF in and out where supported, URDF export, native .sc design files.

Product highlights:

  • Native, pure Rust: the desktop app, browser app, headless CLI and MCP server all run the same commands.
  • Agent-drivable: solidcraft-cli mcp is a built-in Model Context Protocol server — headless, or --connect to drive the running app; JSON scripts batch the same commands.
  • Early but usable: 75 of 76 public reference parts match their analytic or FreeCAD-computed volume, area, centre of mass and bounding box.
  • The macOS app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple; Windows downloads are not yet signed.

Team: developed by Tangency Labs under clean-room contribution rules; an independent open-source work unaffiliated with any third-party commercial software.

Platforms: Windows, macOS (universal), Linux (AppImage, Snap, and other packages), and a browser (WebAssembly) build.
